      1. You will want links from sports related websites to get the maximum benefit. In the eyes of Google, each link counts as a vote for your sites rep, so backlinks from fellow sports sites will be of maximum benefit for you.

Using WP here is a great way, start by following other sports sites and engage them with comments, and likes… If and when they reblog your posted content, thats a great way to get a backlink. You can also just ask to write a guest post on their site, and include a backlink to your own.

Then there are Q&A sites such as Yahoo Answers, Quora and Answers.com.. Answer some sports related questions on them and include a backlink to your site as a reference. Tons of ways, just get creative.

      2. Ok thank you so much for the great information, when I just checked my backlinks it said I have over 1500 backlinks but zero site authority, is this because the links are weak?

      3. Yes, and where did you get 1500 backlinks? You dont need a ton of backlinks.. You just need a handful of high quality ones… 20-25 good backlinks from different sources, but related to your content niche will get you some pretty good DA.

      4. Oh I see, you have 1500 backlinks but from 5 domains. You likely have a site-wide link across thousands of pages. That is fine, but count it as one link for the sake of DA. You have five domains linking to you… Go for 20 or so, from different sources, then you should see some change. But you only want backlinks from high quality sources. Most of them should also be dofollow links (not rel=nofollow) to pass the max link juice to you. If you don’t know what nofollow links are, just Google that.

    1. Both, providing value where it would naturally apply. If you think a page would be a better fit for a backlink, because it is more closely related to the subject you are linking from, or provides extra value, do that. If you feel it would be more beneficial to refer share your entire site, do that. But in the end, you want to have both. It shows you have a strong site, and pages of value.
